How To Eat Healthy While On Vacation

Eating healthy is hard enough during your regular schedule but if you are wanting to stick to your goals it can be even harder when you go on vacation. It’s easy to fall into the trap of “enjoying” your vacation, and all the fattening/unhealthy foods that go with it. I can’t stress enough, though, that a vacation is supposed to be just that…a vacation! So don’t stress yourself too much and enjoy your it!
So here are some ways to still enjoy food on your vacation and not completely fall off the wagon!

1. Choose one meal each day to “splurge” on.

This might sound like “cheating” too much but if you completely limit yourself, you’ll end up not enjoying your vacation or saying ‘Screw it!’ and go hog wild. Choose one meal each day that you allow yourself to have extra calories or a more fattening meal. Eat healthier for your other two meals and snacks and you’ll feel better about splurging one meal a day.

2. Check out menus before going out to eat

Most menus are available online nowadays so this shouldn’t be a problem. This will be very helpful if you plan on eating out for all your meals. Check out the menus beforehand and find something that will fall into your calorie and macro count. Most restaurants have healthier options so chose something that will fall within your calories and macros but still leave you feeling satisfied.

3. Log your food

This is a no brainer. You probably already do this anyway if you are conscious about or trying to lose weight so make sure you continue to do but if you’re not used to doing that then download an app like MyFitnessPal and track your calories. This will help you keep you on track and prevent you from worrying whether or ate too much or not enough.

4. Meal Plan

If you will be staying somewhere with a kitchen, try to plan out some healthy meals that you can eat in. Always keep some healthy snacks around. Not only will this help you stay on track but its likely to save you some money too!

As a whole, just be smart with your eating but enjoy your vacation even if it means a little unhealthy eating! We all need a break! Happy vacationing!!
